Being a bridesmaid (and not a bride) and Voting.

Several months ago, a British blogger asked me to write a guest post having something to with being an American voter. I like Jackart very much as a writer and armchair Tory political philosopher, but he and I are on completely different sides of the political continuum (or in my own haughty Mid-Atlantic American way, I'd like to believe that we are). Perhaps if I lived in Britain, he and I would be less opposed to each others political views.

Perhaps not.

Anyway, I don't think that I could write much of anything for him as I am very unsure for whom I would vote in the upcoming primary (which, by the way, I can't vote in as I have changed my party to Independent--perhaps that wasn't so smart in retrospect). I am interested in learning as much as I can about all of the men and women who are running for this office. (Except perhaps Mike Huckabee or Ron Paul). So really, I suppose I'm just interested in learning as much as I can about Barak Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

But for this primary, I am much like a bridesmaid (which, by the way, I will be this June) and I will stand by and watch my fellow citizens of DC marry themselves (however briefly) to the Democrat of their choice (most likely Obama). I'll be there to decide over what's left in the aftermath (much like a 31-year old bridesmaid--HAHA)? I've always wanted to be one of those brilliant people who was really interested in politics; I've always found them to be kind of glamorous in a way. Or to be able to extend my witty banter to include the actual happenings of local politics instead of falling back on the useful "the personal is political, Jack. Deal with it!"

Oh well. I have until November, don't I?
